About Ella

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes

Ella’s got a big personality and still has lots of energy for an 8-year-old , but mostly she just loves to curl up near you and get pets . Because she’s deaf, she wants to be extra sure she knows where you are at all times, so I’ve noticed she will get up and follow me around, positioning herself between me and the exit. Being deaf has not impeded her reliance on her vocal chords to get your attention , though, and she will whine or bark for attention and occasionally to go out. She will bark for a minute or two when you leave her alone, but calms down relatively quickly and has never had an accident in the house or gotten into anything she shouldn’t.

She’s very affectionate and loves to give kisses. To anyone and everyone. She’s extremely friendly with new people, but may be a little much around young children. She does not know the effect of her jaws and has on occasion caught my hand by accident when she ’s playing too energetic ally . She always wants to play tug, but needs to go easy on it, as her previous owner said she broke some teeth playing too hard. She does have sensitive gums and should not have toys or chews that are too hard , to avoid bleeding. She seems to do OK around other dogs, but has shown a little toy aggression, which is something her previous owner mentioned as well. She will do best with other submissive dogs or as the only dog in the house. She seems only mildly interested in cats and has not really tried to chase after them (she has lived with a cat in the past), but will pull persistently when she sees other dogs.

Ella has been thoroughly enjoying her long walks and is looking fit and feisty!
